 When pasting a selection from OpenOffice Writer the title of the document
 is inserted into my text. In addition, special characters are expanded
 into HTML code. This is quite disturbing. Finally exessive whitespace is
 added.

 This is on Kubuntu. It doesn't matter, if I press the middle mousebutton
 or insert via menue or ctrl+v. In contrast other programs like knotes or
 kwrite receive the plain text.

 The attachment is a document with text to select as well as a screenshot,
 of what happens. If I first paste the text to knotes, reselect it, copy it
 again and paste it to pidgin it works ... but I'd prefere the direct way.
