 Nope, still have same problem.
 I think the crucial fact here is that the company firewall here just
 cannot handle MSNP9.  It blocks the connection to nexus.passport.com:443
 (DNS lookup fails).

 MSN Messenger does not attempt to connect to nexus.passport.com -- and
 connects successfully to the IM service.
