#3190: Number of new emails not reset until "open mail" is clicked

--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
I have encountered this bug while using Pidgin 2.2.0 (and earlier) when
Pidgin is configured to notify me of new messages for my Gmail account.

 Steps to reproduce issue:

 1. Pidgin is configured to notify the user of new mail messages.

 2. Pidgin notifies the user of x number of new messages via the top
 display banner.

 3. User clicks on top display banner and clicks "close", rather than "open
 mail".

 4. User manually goes to webmail site and reads or deletes new messages.

 5. Pidgin scans for new messages at a late time and finds new messages,
but incorrectly displays the total number of messages.

If in the above scenario, Pidgin correctly reports three new mail
messages, and the following steps are taken, Pidgin will incorrectly
display four new messages if they user gets one more new mail message at a
later time (adds old total to new total). Clicking "open mail" seems to
reset the counter, but Pidgin does not seem to scan or does not scan
correctly for a new number of messages. The number of messages seems to be
the number of new messages during the current Pidgin session which have
not been opened via "open mail" which seems to reset the counter.

Request that the new mail messages counter be reset each time Pidgin scans
for new mail messages on a configured account to correctly reflect the
number of new or unread messages contained in the account.
