 I'm seeing this on a Debian Etch (4.0) system as well.  I have the
 libgnutls-dev package installed which is version based on gnutls 1.4.4.
 Looking in /usr/include/gnutls/ I see that gnutls.h does indeed define
 gnutls_datum_t, the lack of which I thought was the problem.  So obviously
 not.

 The last version I compiled without problems was 2.1.0, and that was happy
 with an older libnutls11-dev package (1.0.16 based).
