 When using Pidgin with our company's internal IRC, often a user will
 appear multiple times in the channel user list.  Pidgin must be not
 picking up /part messages, or drop connections or something to properly
 remove them.

 Even still, it shouldn't add the user to the list multiple times anyway.
 If the user is in the list, it shouldn't add them again.

 Note that we don't have this problem with any other IRC client, so I think
 the problem must be in Pidgin.  (In fact, it's caused a few people in our
 office to switch to other clients.)

 Here's some messages I saw in the channel today that wound up having this
 user appear in the list 5 times:
