 When using Pidgin 2.2.0, the preferences are not saved to
 .purple/prefs.xml. The prefs.xml file is not even created when you first
 launch the UI.
 If the file exists, it's not loaded and all preferences are set to
 default.

 I'm using the Fedora Core 6 rpm package.
