 I use Pidgin for ICQ and Gadu-Gadu. I tried to setup different status
 (with messages) for each account and noticed strange behaviour.

 If I set an individual status with a message for my ICQ account the
 message does not appear to my buddies (which includes my second testing
 account). The status itself is correct. If I set a global status with a
 message my buddies can see the message.

 Also, if I set an individual status and message for GG and let ICQ use the
 global settings, the ICQ status and message appear correctly to my
 buddies.

 This does not apply to Gadu-Gadu. There, the status message is set
 correctly either if set globally or idividually for the GG account.
