 This #pdgin chatlog describes the bug:

         <Giant_Cat>     in Pidgin for Windows,
         <goutnet>       shoot
         <Giant_Cat>     if you minimize Pidgin as a tray icon,
         <Giant_Cat>     and right click the tray icon and select "Quit",
         <Giant_Cat>     there will be a Crash dialog box
         <goutnet>       did you file a bug on Trac, and did you check
 there were not already one ?
         <Giant_Cat>     neither
         <Giant_Cat>     Pidgin will first attempt to restore to normal
 size (you can see its window frame drawn),
         <Giant_Cat>     and then pop up a Crash dialog box
         <Giant_Cat>     saying:
         <Giant_Cat>     Pidgin has encountered a problem and needs to
 close.
         <Giant_Cat>     We are sorry for the inconvenience.
         <Giant_Cat>     it's a Windows dialog box.
         <Giant_Cat>     "Please tell Microsoft about this problem."
         <Giant_Cat>     three buttons on the bottom: "Debug", "Send Error
 Report", "Don't Send"

         <goutnet>       well, first of all, check if there already is a
 Trac ticket for that
