 siegerstein: If every (or even just most) GTK+ applications are having
 issues then that is clearly not a pidgin problem.

 That backtrace is coming from deep inside glib and X, there isn't anything
 about pidgin there, if you run again with the --sync flag like it says
 that might get us something useful.
