 I am having the same problem. I am in dorms where one must connect to the
 internet via proxy. The native apps work with the proxy settings but not
 Pidgin. What makes it frustrating is that Internet Explorer doesn't save
 the proxy settings but always works! I have been tried to get in contact
 with the network head but he doesn't reply to my queries.

 The fact remains: native apps work while pidgin does not. I have tried
 other clients like Trillian and Miranda, all fail. I refuse to go back to
 using AIM, Yahoo, MSN Live, etc.

 I have attached a ZIP containing all the error logs with various settings.
 The first value indicates what was used in Pidgin's global settings, while
 the second value is what I used for the AIM's account settings.
