 Upon upgrading to 2.4.1 I wanted to see how the handling of the expansion
 of the text box worked. To do so, I wrote a short string of nonsense and
 tried to copy and paste it for a while. After about 2-3 lines, Pidgin
 became unresponsive. I was able to restart Pidgin and reproduce this bug
 again using the same method.

 Using Windows XP with the standard GTK install.

 Expected behavior: Pidgin expands the typing area to accommodate more text
 (or simply return to the old user-selectable typing area with a scroll
 bar)

 Actual behavior: Pidgin crashes when trying to deal with long messages

 I find this fairly serious/critical because Pidgin is now useless for
 messages of any real length or copying and pasting articles and passages.
 I may have to revert to a version prior to 2.4.0 because the expanding
 typing area has now caused me numerous problems.
