 In case it could help (i'm using DFly 1.12.1 under VMWare):

 No way of getting past the "nat-pmp" phase, even when
 purple_pmp_get_public_ip() is left aside (commented in network.c)

 *But*, switching to libthread_xu solved the issue without any modification
 to pidgin' sources:

 > ls -l /usr/lib/libpthread.*
 lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  14 Apr  3 15:47 /usr/lib/libpthread.a ->
 libthread_xu.a
 lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  15 Apr  3 15:46 /usr/lib/libpthread.so ->
