I've been told by one of your developers that the 'text area' changes are
a feature and not a bug. I respect the development teams choice, but I
 respectfully disagree.

As a user I find this change mind boggling. The original incarnation
allowed for the best of worlds for everyone...if they cared for the
default, they left it alone...if they required a larger text area...they
could easily resize it. The current implementation now seems
unnecessarily complicated. Rather than simply resizing my input area
once, it is constantly resizing....jumping back and forth. This is highly
unintuitive and distracting to use. I'm not sure what kind of users are
only typing 3 or 4 words, but my friends and I type long messages to each
other. I also have long conversations with my boss during the work day
and this current. Isn't it a more expensive feature to have to constantly
monitor how much text is in the text area so the box knows when to auto
resize? I'm sorry if this comes off as rude, but I'm extremely frustrated
by the reluctance to leave such a logical feature alone. It feels like
the developers have taken usability away from me. I want to be able to
control the software I use...not the other way around.

I think it's important to state that I also work in development, and while
users can often be demanding...there are also times when they truly are
correct about an issue. I feel this is one of those times. What makes
sense from a development point of view may be completely wrong from a
usability point of view. Obviously, you want your software to be well
designed, but if people stop using it due to stubbornness...then have you
 really succeeded?

In my opinion, this change is a regression...not an improvement. The
majority of responses to the change has been negative. Feel free to
delete or ignore my post....I just felt it was important to voice my
 thoughts.
