Comment (by kdorff):
I think, at this point, the developers of Pidgin must be taking a
psychology class... take away a feature '''everybody who uses IM knows and
uses''' and replace it! Then largely ignore the community, watch the
chaos, write a term paper about it. Another absurd option: The Pidgin
developers must feel they have too many users, thus have no real interest
in what their opinions are.
hbons and loufoque: You say 25%/75% is right and will hake you happy. But
why is that any better than what is in the auto-resize? Pidgin developers
want 2 lines, you want 25% of the space. Why should the developers dictate
the size? Why should you dictate the size (at 25%). We have a '''perfectly
good solution''': make the size of the window the size that YOU want it.
Why would we continue to regress to "just make it 25%/75%" and make the
software even more unusable?
The fact that they have a perfectly good solution (make auto-resize an
option) and they continue for almost a month and a half to "just not care"
is ridiculous. I loved Pidgin and I preached the religion to everyone I
met. Now they are coming back to me and I have to propose other solutions.
Half a dozen people I know have switched from Pidgin just because of this
feature because they don't see it coming back. They aren't has happy with
the alternatives but the auto-resize is just too annoying. Obviously, I
completely agree with them.
