 I upgraded to 2.4.1 and the same problem still occurs.
 One thing I did discover, however, is that this issue only occurs when
 running the 64-bit version of Pidgin. When I run a 32-bit version of
 pidgin from within a 32-bit chroot, the problem does not occur.

 I will attach the gdb backtrace, the stdout/err log, and an apport crash
 dump for 2.4.1.
