 It looks to me like pidgin has 4 vertical pixels between the emblem icons,
 i.e. 16 for the icon and 4 empty pixels. gaim has only 1 vertical pixel
 between its icons. Isn't this the problem rather than the size of the
 icons? gaim had 16x16 icons and much less vertical space.

 Maybe there was a need to increase the spacing. Or is this an option I can
 set somewhere?
