 Ok, closing this out as invalid just pissed me off. I have no control
 whatsoever on the settings that the server I connect to uses. I'd think
 the appropriate fix here would be to allow users to select whether to use
 SASL with a particular server or not (ever hear of the concept of
 backwards compatibility?) rather than force us all to go find different
 clients to use or use 'old' versions of pidgin until servers catch up. I
 also do not like the fact that I had no way to contest the declaration of
 my ticket as invalid, duplicate, and closed. If there is a way to do it
 you have not publicized it well.
