 One, this was closed as a duplicate, #5008 was closed as invalid. And it
 is invalid because the server is broken. There is no option in XMPP about
 whether to use SASL or not, not using SASL isn't compliant. Servers that
 let you do that are broken (sort of) and clients that don't support SASL
 are busted (or old). Fixing an Openfire server is a three second task for
 the administrator of the server. And yes you do have a way to contest it,
 posting a comment exactly as you did. We reopen tickets all the time
 because people comment on them. You need to enter the IP as the Connect
 Server not as the Domain, entering the IP as the Domain shouldn't work at
 all (that's another openfire bug). But thanks for playing and assuming we
 are idiots.
