 Thanks for the thoughtful comment, I probably over-reacted myself. As to
 not making it clear that the update might cause issues I don't think we
 knew before the release that it did cause problems. It is rather
 unfortunate that openfire is 'broken' in this manner. It doesn't help that
 the SASL mechanism in question (DIGEST-MD5) has a rather confusing RFC (so
 causative of problems that it is being pulled as a suggestion by the XMPP
 community and by the IETF as well I believe). So we couldn't really note
 the potential issue in the release notes (if we could have we likely would
 have).

 What did you need to do in the end to get your problem resolved? Was it
 more than setting Domain back to normal and setting the IP of the server
 as the Connect Server?

 Consider this my apology for any implications of idiocy on my part as
 well. =)
