 This would be an '''outstanding''' improvement to implement. As other
 users have pointed out, an option to show/hide away & mobile buddies would
 increase usability, and most importantly, decrease scrolling.

 The developers may only communicate with a couple carefully chosen close
 knit friends, but the rest of us keep track of hundreds of people using
 this software.

 The implementation of this feature would eliminate the need for two other
 features, both of which are solely designed to decrease scrolling: first,
 to have the list spill into multiple columns when the width of the buddy
 list window is increased; second, to have a show/hide groups option (Adium
 does this) - when you "hide groups" and sort by availability, your most
 available buddies are naturally at the top of the list. The offline
 buddies are still there cluttering up the display, but the need for
 scrolling is reduced or eliminated, since away and mobile buddies are
 rarely called upon.

 I strongly encourage other users to voice their support for this essential
 upgrade to pidgin! "Minor" my butt!
