 I'm very sorry!!
 Obviously I skipped the "-d" option when I read the instructions!! Mea
 culpa!

 After executing the debug-version with the -d switch I found that pidgin
 obviously didn't find ASPELL.

 After I uninstalled the installed versions and reinstalled them as
 described in http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Installing%20Pidgin
 #IsthereawaytoinstallSpell-checkingsupportAspellmanually
 pidgin stated-up at once!

 Perhaps I should mention that the reinstalled version was just a very
 little bit newer than the already installed (xx.yy.zz - xx and yy of the
 Aspell-Version where identical).
