 In order to create this problem, you need to do the following steps:
 1. Add an xmpp muc to your buddy list.
 2. Join it
 3. Kill your internet connection (e.g. turn off your ADSL router)
 4. reconnect to the internet
 5. reconnect to your xmpp server
 6. rejoin the channel (automatically)
 7. Other people will see: "xyz has left the channel (replaced by new
 connection)" and "xyz has joined the channel"
 8. Discover that you can only see yourself in the channel although you
 know that there are other people.

 The problem seems not to occur if a server (don't know which one) learns
 about the broken connection before the client reconnects.
