I registered just to post this ticket.

Please bring back the manually resizeable text-input field. My 5 reasons
 for requesting this:

 1. Having a small text input field makes me feel claustrophobic while
typing a reply (that's the closest I can come to describing the feeling...
 I hate it).

 2. The default small size for the input field makes it a smaller target
area to click the mouse in.

 3. Visually, the small space for text input dominated by the larger field
makes me uncomfortable and is continually annoying.

 4. The very first thing I used to do upon installing and running
gaim/pidgin was to install the text input field. The developers have
removed this option from me for seemingly no good reason.

 5. The developers are ignoring repeated requests to bring back the option
to manually resize the text input field and have responded to the users
with little more than dismissive scorn. Take a hint, developers: when so
many people register on this site just to express displeasure with a
(relatively) minor functionality change, then maybe it's not worth the
struggle. What's the point? To prove that a handful of developers can
ultimately convince thousands of users that their GUI change is better
 sometime in the remote future?

Please just allow us to manually resize the text input field. Please.

This is really a sad way for an OSS project to behave. I'm off to
funpidgin (and if this stubbornness continues, ultimately another IM
 program).
