Comment:

 I recall having seen something duplicated recently, but it is rarer now,
 and I can't reproduce it right now. So I guess the bug is gone, at least
 partly. There is still the question of what should happen when you have
 formatting in the text that you are linking: when ['''boldtext'''
 normaltext] is the text that you select to turn into a link, either
 everything becomes bold or everything becomes normal, depending on which
 side you select it from.
