 In simply trying to stop seeing buddies as online, but still allowing them
 to see you, unsubscribe does not work for gtalk.  It may work for a few
 moments, or even until you restart pidgin, but I have had to do it over
 and over and over again with the same contacts.  The only thing that does
 work is canceling presence notification as well, but then they cannot see
 me.
