 "except the tab" -- excuses, excuses :P

 As much as I'd like Pidgin to be the bastion of modern user interfaces,
 the current paradigm used by this world as we know it is to click on an
 input box, and then to type in it.

 If you want to revolutionize this behavior that the world has come to
 accept, then sure; please help me write a patch for fixing the "except the
 tab" behavior: I am new to the codebase.

 Otherwise, it would be nice to see the "actionable" area, i.e. the place
 associated with the typing to be more visible and occupy some more pixels
 than it does. Additionally, the toolbar above it, and in my case the OTR
 button completely obscure the input box. In simple terms, you are
 violating Fitts' Law, and adding whitespace will solve the problem. Here
