 Can you explain this scenario a bit more clearly? You have a single
 account (what protocol?) signed on from both your desktop and your laptop,
 correct? You receive a message to just your laptop? At which point pidgin
 on both your desktop *and* your laptop send an auto-response to the buddy
 who sent you a message? Are you using any auto-response plugins for
 pidgin? Are you seeing the incoming message on both your desktop and your
 laptop?
