 I have a Jabber server of my own which is on the same LAN as my client.

 When I restart or stop ejabberd (/etc/init.d/ejabberd restart), Pidgin
 freezes and I need to kill it.

 It's possible that ejabberd uses to close connections incorrectly, but
 such wrong behavior should not cause Pidgin to crash.
