Comment:

 The only way we could move to using GtkStatusIcon would be by including
 its source in pidgin. As we are (at the moment) committed to maintaining
 compatability with GTK+ 2.0.0 (to the best of our abilities).
 GtkStatusIcon is decidedly newer than that.
