 When using pidgin 2.4.3, spell checking will not work.  Although the
 option is set in Preferences, misspelled words are not highlighted in the
 chat window, nor does the right-click context menu have the typical spell
 checking options.  Aspell with the English dictionary is installed.  I
 read previously that the locale setting for pidgin needs to match the
 dictionary, but I cannot find the locale setting anywhere in pidgin's
 preferences, nor is it a valid useflag setting under Gentoo.

 I run Gentoo Linux.  Attached are the prefs.xml file and the Help -> About
 debugging listing.
