 Just wanted to add that I've had the exact same experience as spartan018.
 I've only seen this issue on Vista, both before and after SP1 and also on
 both x86 and x64 installs. I'm using Pidgin 2.4.3 with GTK+ 2.12.11 and
 Glib 2.16.5. The rest of the runtimes are the newest available as well. I
 also had the issue with GTK+ 2.12.1b and 2.12.8.
