Comment:

I have no idea what "using the tp-plugin to control skype" means but
whatever it is we don't support it.

 1) Yes, as I explained the block list in pidgin for an ICQ account is the
invisible list and the allow list in pidgin for ICQ is the visible list.
The fact that the names do not indicate this is a long-standing issue with
the privacy code in pidgin. The privacy code is some of the oldest code in
pidgin and is in desperate need of rewriting but it is a complicated mess
 of protocol-specific issues and features.

The fact that the icon is different when starting in an invisible status
versus going to an invisible status is odd and is a bug somewhere. If you
could provide the debug window output of starting up versus changing to
invisible (as well as ideally a capture of the tcp traffic involved) that
 would be most helpful.

 3) We don't have a particularly high opinion of qip as a rule because it
tends to have problems that we don't see with any other clients (and is
even inconsistent about those problems depending on qip settings). That
being said if you can narrow down more closely which buddies have this
problem and have those buddies check their encoding/character set/etc.
settings in qip and report back that would be helpful. As would telling us
what the Capabilities info for those buddies is (right-click -> Get Info
 on them should tell you).
