 I FOUND THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM!!!

 I decided to try Trillian to see if I got a similar error, well while
 looking through all the options I noticed a LARGE number of names in the
 ignore list. I cleared the list and ran Pidgin again and no more error!!!!
