 Hi!

 Pidgin 2.5.0 (release for MS Windows, downloaded from this site) still has
 the problem reported a few months ago: Cyrillic (russian) characters is
 not possible with some other IM clients (SIM, QIP(?), Miranda(?)).


 Easy to reproduce:
 Install Pidgin 2.5.0 and try to chat in russian to someone who has SIM. He
 will see your russian fine, but his response is NOK (abracadabra istead of
 russian letters).


 Easy to workaround:
 Install 2.3.1 (the latest one which doesn't have this issue). Then install
 2.5.0, without allowing to update GTK component.

 So, the issue is seems to be in the GTK which is delivered in recent
 (since 2.3.1) versions of Pidgin.
