 I have an issue similar to [http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/6193 this]
 where Pidgin will suck up the entire processor (fortunately only one core
 in my case) when it's not connected.  I'm using it for Google Talk with no
 other plugins loaded. I'm on Hardy Heron in Gnome, kernel 2.6.24-19.  Once
 I reconnect the processor use settles back down as it should.
