 It's probably better to just focus the username field.  I don't think
 focusing the protocol menu but then moving focus to the username field
 when someone types a non-spacebar is a good solution because you can't
 infer that behavior by looking at the dialog.  I think users need to see
 the blinking cursor in the input box.

 mpt: FYI in 2.5.0 the Protocol menu is the default and the screen name
 field was renamed to username.
