Comment(by mpt):
I'm sorry that you "fail to see" things I described that you actually
quoted in your reply, and I don't know what more I can do about that. :-)
I will pick up on one point, though: "my argument would be the time saved
people who might accidentally mis-click and get two windows is as minimal
(if not more so) than the potential time savings for people who can
utilize more than one "Add Account" window".
So where[[BR]]
P(A) = probability that clicking "Add" twice is accidental or
misguided,[[BR]]
''t''(A) = average time wasted in dismissing the duplicate window, or
in data re-entry and reading and understanding the error message,[[BR]]
P(I) = 1 − P(A) = probability that clicking "Add" twice is
intentional, and[[BR]]
''t''(I) = average time saved in clicking "Add" twice without having
to re-acquire the target,[[BR]]
you think that P(A) × ''t''(A) < P(I) × ''t''(I)? Really? Bear in mind
that ''t''(A) would be on the order of 30 seconds to a minute (depending
on window manager, typing speed, etc), while ''t''(I) would be (as I said
earlier) something like 1 or 2 seconds. Even if we charitably assumed that
''t''(A) was only 30 seconds, and ''t''(I) was 2 seconds, for the time
saved to be greater overall, people overall would need to click "Add"
twice intentionally more than ''15 times'' as often as they click it twice
accidentally or misguidedly. I think it's probably closer to the
reciprocal of that! (And that formula doesn't take into account the loss
in satisfaction from the error occurring at all.)
