Comment:

 If you are running pidgin in windoze, this problem mainly has someting to
 do with the gtk-runtime installed by pidgin. May be there is a problem in
 the iconv library. You can uninstall that gtk-runtime and reinstall a gtk-
 runtime of version 2.12 or others. You can find many useful message by
 searching "pidgin 2.5.0 QQ null" on the internet.
