 This issue does still exist in 2.5.2.

 I did the following steps to reproduce the issue, but I'm not shure
 whether this is exactly what is neccessary to cause this issue.

 1. Make Pidgin connect on startup.
 2. run/restart Pidgin
 3. Click the first group to select it
 '''4. Hit F2 and nothing happens'''
 5. Hit F2 again and it works as it should, the group enters editing mode.
 6. Hit F2 again and it works again - the group is now leaving editing mode
 again. '''But at the same time, the group gets expanded.'''

 I thought the behavior had improved because it was now working when trying
 it for the second time. But another time when I had this issue with 2.5.2,
 it didn't go away when trying to rename the group. Instead, I needed to
 focus the second group and then again the first group to make it work.
