 First of all, I did search so I hope I'm not repeating anything.

 Today while IMing using yahoo (via Pidgin) it suddenly logged me out mid
 IM and gave me a message that yahoo was completing maintainance and would
 be up shortly. My friend with whom I was IMing was on the yahoo messenger
 and experienced no issues whatsoever. I logged into yahoo messenger fine
 just after. I tried pidgin again and it just shows it is connecting with
 no other info.

 Here is what it says in the debugging window:

 It just continues to say Available - Connecting within the status bar. The
 little thing that shows it's working is also frozen. I reinstalled and
 it's still doing this, and is also doing this on my other computer.
