 I'm not sure I understand the request here. Are you suggesting that we
 should always display a buddy icon for a contact even when the most active
 buddy in the contact doesn't have one (as long as some other buddy in the
 contact does)?

 While I can sort of understand that idea for buddy icons, I can't at all
 for status messages (using the status message from an Away buddy on the
 contact when the most active buddy is Available just seems like it would
 be wrong to me).
