 sorry for confusion, lets look at this way:

 We have list of buddies (sorted by Alphabet):[[BR]]
 Ala       (offline)[[BR]]
 Boris     (offline)[[BR]]
 Den       (away)[[BR]]
 Jack      (invisible)[[BR]]
 Jom       (online)[[BR]]
 Kyle      (online)[[BR]]
 Kristina  (offline)[[BR]]


 We have list of buddies (sorted by status):[[BR]]
 Jom       (online)[[BR]]
 Kyle      (online)[[BR]]
 Den       (away)[[BR]]
 Jack      (away)[[BR]]
 Kristina  (offline)[[BR]]
 Ala       (offline)[[BR]]
 Boris     (invisible)[[BR]]

 In both variants its difficult to find friend, if you have list of 150
 friends.[[BR]]

 Convenient list(divide list to two parts
 online(available,away,invisible,..) and offline and sort alphabetically
 both lists separately and result list = OnlineList + OfflineList ):[[BR]]
 Boris     (invisible)[[BR]]
 Den       (away)[[BR]]
 Jack      (away)[[BR]]
 Jom       (online)[[BR]]
 Kyle      (online)[[BR]]
 Ala       (offline)[[BR]]

 As result we will easily search for any fiend, no matter how big buddy
 list.
 Does it make sense?
