 That was exactly the problem, thank you. I downloaded the installer, then
 launched it from inside my browser. I've recently started running all my
 internet-facing applications under dropmyrights.exe (including Pidgin) and
 have not yet got fully aquainted with the things that do not work.
 Obviously, trying to install something is precisely the kind of behaviour
 that dropmyrights.exe is designed to prevent. :-)
