 I don't know that I agree with this, I could perhaps see remembering
 whether the channels were closed when pidgin was last closed but I'm not
 sure that would actually be good or useful for anyone.

 Then again, I don't understand persistent chats either so perhaps I'm just
 failing to understand why this is the right thing to do.
