 This is excellent software, but after I upgraded to 2.5.3 on Windows XP I
 have found that I cannot close the program. Upon right clicking the system
 tray icon and selecting "quit", The "buddies" window will turn white on
 the inside, but it will not actually close. When I then X out the buddies
 list I get a "this program is not responding" end now message, which I
 have to manually select to end the program. I have only experienced this
 problem since I got the newest version. I am currently using only default
 plugins and the Clearlooks DarkLime Gnome Theme.

 Thank you very much for any help fixing this issue. Otherwise Pidgin is
 definitely the best chat client out there.
