Comment:

 I solved the problem with the msn login. It seems like my friendly name
 exceeded the maximum length allowed by the msn protocol, still pidgin
 didn't warn me of the issue when I try to change the name.
 If you can add a warning message when one's friendly name is too long for
 the protocol it would be great.

 btw I still experience the problem described in #7849.
