 killua-sz:  Given the paths listed in your backtrace, I'm going to assume
 you're on some sort of Fedora or !RedHat-derived system.  In that case,
 run the following commands:
 {{{
    yum install yum-utils
    debuginfo-install pidgin
 }}}

 Once that is complete, run Pidgin again and obtain another backtrace.
 While Pidgin and libpurple in this case have debugging symbols, other
 libraries do not, making it much more difficult to figure out what the
 problem is here.

 Feel free to ignore lonicerae's comment, as it's not particularly relevant
 in this case.
