 I can confirm after trial and error with Pidgin portable 2.5.2 (and .3)
 that this is a problem with the GTK folder.  If I splice in the GTK folder
 from Pidgin portable 2.3.1 I can send my AIM messages fine.  The only
 downside is the interface is changed slightly. (I'm not sure of other
 ramifications)
