Comment:

 The images that you send out over Direct IM are supposed to show up.  Do
 they not show up for you, or not show up for the other person?  Or both?
 Are you sure that you are directly connected?  Do you think you could open
 the debug window (Help->Debug Window), try sending and image, then copy
 and paste the debug output here?

 Yes, the Psychic plugin is supposed to open a window once someone starts
 typing to you.  On AIM typing notifications are only sent after you have
 exchanged a message or two in each direction with the person while you're
 both online.  So the Psychic plugin would only work for SOME incoming
 messages.
