 Unless you have a different problem, it is only an issue that occurs at
 startup. It occurs when Pidgin loads faster than the notification-area-
 applet (after startup, the notification-area-applet is already loaded).
 You should notice that the Pidgin window appears before its icon in the
 notification area, and in fact, if you hit the close button before the
 icon appears, the program actually quits.
